I've played against real people, but lost interest. I like real-time games better, and there are better turn-based servers. It's fine if you want to introduce a friend to the game in a benign way, but otherwise I didn't like it. Of course, I'm not a frequent facebook user, so that makes a difference too.

I played a single game on facebook a while ago. However, it seems that it is hard to find opponents there.

That was the thing, I was trying to introduce a friend to the game. I can't seem to get invites to work though.

New facebook security features may have made it more difficult to invite people. Just send them a message with a link to the application, ask them to add it, then you can play.

I can get them to get the invites okay. It's the starting the games part that doesn't seem to work.
I can't even create a public game, get a integer error of some kind...

I think there were a couple of versions of the game available on facebook. You might want to try a different version.

two different versions that have worked for me.

From what I've heard and experienced, this is probably the best Go server app for Facebook right now (even though it's not in English, it's simple enough that English speakers can use it and you will find the occasional American/European player waiting for a game): http://www.facebook.com/#!/apps/applica ... 819&ref=ts

that's the one I use, but I haven't tried to start any new games with other people in a very long time

like others have mentioned, wouldn't be surprised if the new security changes are blocking it

Thanks, Jordus and Araban, those two worked for me.
I've already used the first to teach go to two friends! :)

The second I've had much more well matched games, it looks a bit like IGS did the time I used it.

I do play a freind of mine on there. But I think I agree with another pster that there are other servers that are better.

Has this feature improved at all? I hadn't looked for go on Facebook until recently and this is what I found Happy-Go 開心圍棋 beta Like the graphics but I have not yet been able to start a game of my own, though I have only tried a few times. From the comments here I gather that this is only turn-based?

I've had a good number of fun games through turnplay's facebook interface:

With so many dedicated Go servers out there, real-time or not, why would you want to play Go using a service which is so clearly not designed for it???
Just curious.

Besides, Facebook harvests your data and sells it all over the place. I would never trust anything personal, least alone my marvelous Go moves, to such untrustworthy service Facebook. ;)
