A fun game with fighting sprawling across the board from Lee Changho and Cho Hyeyeon in the Maxim cup. Note how Lee stuck with the pre-AI theory that made him best in the world for a decade that letting your opponent crawl in sente on the 2nd line is nothing to be sad about (and Elf sometimes agrees), though he also played an AI joseki against the top right shimari.

Wow, what an inspiring game to watch.
I love seeing games like this. Their moves are so beautiful and they are trying to get the maximum out of every single move. They also try to not answer their opponent, but go on the attack themselves (shoulderhits for example)

I didn't know Cho Hye-yeon but I just looked her up and apparently she is called the 'Female Lee Changho' because of her style.

She beat him by half a point in their last game from the women vs veterans tournament a while back
If you go to big tournaments you might meet her, she travels quite a bit to European/US Go Congresses etc and is friendly and speaks English well, I think there are some of her reviews for the USGC on the AGA youtube account. Also she bumped into us at the KPMC last year, and is active on Facebook.

She is very famous. I like a lot her old blog, she has stories and lots of analysis that I found very interesting.

I sort of thought of that story as Hyeyeon-Cho no Go.

Not only was Rui 9p one of the strongest in Korea outright, she was also especially effective against Lee Changho . . . Double difficulty.

i am surprised to see a 9p getting so thoroughly annihilated; the soft-looking white 118 seems to be the decisive attacking move, although black was already in deep doodoo with deadish groups on the left, depending entirely upon killing the long white snake in the middle - a style of play i find myself coming up against all the time way down in the lowly amateur ranks.

Ms Cho looks and sounds like a gentle lady, which is hard to reconcile with such venomous attacking play. Were i to not have known black's identity, i would be fearful of running across him in a dark alley.

And in this week's episode of 'If you liked that, then you'll like this', another slugfest (though the outcome was never really in doubt given their rating difference):
