It is called study GROUP for a reason. Those kids today dont want do their homework anymore. ;-)

Both analyzing the moves and searching the position in pro games thereafter felt rather interesting to me. I will post my variations and search results later, but first let us give some time to the people who want to discover their own.

it's just that you gave no context for this post. you showed a diagram of a go board... ok.

if you want folks to analyze on their own, it'd still be informative to give context (e.g. "let's study this position")

Perhaps you recognize a pattern?
Often, humans tend to have an opposite problem.
In no particular order...
  • all dates seem to be after alphago ;
  • B won 5 out of 8 (sampling size too small? ) ;
  • countries (unlikely any correlation) ;
  • unknown ages (unlikely any correlation) ;
  • genders (unlikely any correlation) ;
  • day of the week (unlikely any correlation) ;

My database is not up to date, but there appears to be no human game with this fuseki before this year. But it did appears in one of Alphago-zero selfplay game (it's not the full strength alphago zero but it's still well into superhuman territory by this point).

While I am very well aware that it is quite possibly not connected, I still think the fact, that this position is played by top dog pros almost exclusivly is remarkable and at least funny in any case.
