Short version:

• Ranks have been recalibrated to try to make them somewhere in between EGF and AGA. So almost everyone has gone up in rank.
• A big bug making ratings much more volatile than they should have been (something was doubled when it should have been squared) was fixed.

Both changes were applied retroactively.

My rating was 1610 and my rank was ~10.9k. With the adjustment my rating went to 1450 and my new rank is 6.5k. The mobile application has not been updated yet.

The post states that their goal was to put their 1D rank between AGA and EGF 1Ds. Another goal was to remove the 25kyu "purgatory." So the average rank is now 10.4k instead of 17.6k. As a result, the kyu ranks are a bit inflated compared to AGA and EGF. This was done to account for their handicap game winning percentages.


After a few days playing games I haven't really noticed any issues. And I did get a few more losses than normal without dropping in rank. So apparently the glitch-fix is doing its thing. I don't really care about the rank numbers so I can't comment on that.
