For those who want to look it up (e.g. GoGoD 2021-02-25a), the 23rd Nongshim Cup game between Sin Chin-seo and Ke Jie has been voted 2021's Game of the Year by the Hanguk Kiwon's Baduk TV Awards.

The factors that contributed to the award (which Sin happily accepted as kind evidence that his go had improved) were the game itself, which featured a very difficult mid-game "shinogi is possible" assessment under time pressure, but also the fact that it topped a five-game winning streak to win the Nongshim Cup for Korea, and also came shortly after the traumatic Samsung Cup final against the same opponent in which Sin lost Game 1 owing to a loose mouse wire that caused a clicko, and a half-point loss in Game 2.

And for those of us without GoGoD, the game can be viewed for free at Go4Go ( https://go4go.net/go/games/sgfview/95441 ), at GoKifu ( http://gokifu.com/s/39i9-gokifu-2021022 ... e(9p).html ), and at Go To Everyone! ( https://gotoeveryone.k2ss.info/kifu/wr/22_nc_13_ ).

Go4Go requires logging into a free account. Go to Everyone! only provides the SGF, not a viewer. GoKifu provides a viewer and doesn't require an account. Make sure to copy the whole of the GoKifu link, since not all of it has been bluelit.

Who voted this?

I didn't know that such award existed, or could exist. I think that when a game, any game, is played, there are many things to consider: strength of the players, event, time allowed, importance of the outcome... All of these factors modify how the game is played. Picking a "best game" is terribly tricky, in my very humble opinion. So, who voted is interesting to me: journalists? players? public?

I believe it's one Michael Redmond covered on his Youtube channel:
