Edited message display

When you edit a message, is there a way to give a reason for why you edited the message? I'm not seeing anyway to do that currently. Maybe I'm just missing some thing obvious? (Wouldn't be the first time.)

Also, I'd like to put in a request to do some thing similar to this: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=589514&start=15#p3296209
Default behavior is to only display an edit message when a reason is given, or it's not the last post currently in the thread. This would cause the edit message to show up always.

Maybe other people don't like this idea and I know it's not a huge deal, but it is some thing that I like so thought I'd drop a request in here for it. :)

Edit - Okay, right after I posted this I actually read the above link a little better, and realized it already gave me my answer -- edit reasons are for when admins edit posts. I guess my second part still stands, and would it be possible to enable the "edit reason" ability for all users?

I like to think I know a little programming, but maybe I'm getting in over my head and requesting crazy-big changes - my bad if so.

Right above the first submit button, there should be a textbox for reason for editing...

See the edit to my last message. And once again, someone gets a post in before I can complete my edit.

Edit - maybe this just proves I should stop trying to edit my posts.

I've seen what Jordus talked about in GD and other forums, but xed_over is right, it doesn't appear here.
