Playability of 7x7 go

Hello. I am interested in abstract board games in general, but I don't know much about the game of go apart from the rules and a few 9x9 games against other beginners.

Giving my general interest in board games I am curious about the following:

I would like to know of the possibilities of 7x7 go as game on its own. Is the value of 7x7 go only of didatical purpose or it could suit adult tournament play?

I have heard the 7x7 game have been solved, but can the solution be managed be humans (basically this would rule out the interest either than didatic).

As a beginner for me the game is interesting but how it would be between top players, giving the right komi=9 it would always end up in a draw? Or is the game still complex enough for competitive play between strong players?

Thank you.

This will help, especially the sgf linked to on that page:

7x7 hasn't been solved yet, the sequences there are the opinions of strong players, but not all lines have been checked. It's even possible that 9 isn't the correct komi, and there's some brilliant play that hasn't been discovered yet that is better for Black or White than what we know.

I am playing a couple of 7x7 games with willemien on DGS right now, I think they are my first - it's very confusing!
