In my game against topazg, I didn't read carefully enough. I must not let that happen this time. This game I will try to concentrate on two things:

1.) Reading - I must not be lazy.
2.) Flow - As Magicwand says, I can get it if I can expose his weakness. I will lose it when my own weakness is exposed.

Do spectators prefer coords on the game board ? My preference is just on sorta discussion diagrams.

My plan is to play an overwhelmingly boring game and see how it goes.

I play orthogonally to starting 4-4s so I have options considering the bottom right in fuseki. I don't mind diagonal fuseki.

Excited to follow this game. As a fellow up and coming 1k-2k player, I've been watching Loons progress for a while, and of course Kirby is well known in these Malkovich games.

I have rarely played 33 as either color, so that will be interesting to watch as well.

This should be an interesting match. I see 3-3 played periodically, but not as often as 4-4 and 3-4. I don't have much else to say at this point, except that it's a pity to see the coordinates leave.

Up to ya'all, but my personal 2 cents is that it helps to have the coordinates there so they're available (in case, for example, I discuss the game with a friend off of the forum). That said, it is useful, of course, to not become reliant on the coordinates, as discussion diagrams are very useful.

edit: I am also very eager to watch this game, as I've been chasing after Loons since I met him, and Kirby's such a stand-up guy.

Hey, cool!

I am also watching this game with interest. I still feel like I stole the win from Kirby in the L19 tournament (I'm proud of the game I played, but Kirby definitely made me work hard for it).

And Loons, well, we've played a couple times on KGS, and I drop by and watch some of his games there on occasion ... usually we go into crazy variations quickly when we do.

You have likely improved far beyond what meager increments in skill I have gained. :mrgreen: And, yes, we need to play again.

I'd even be willing to try and play out a Malkovich game on here with you, whenever you feel you have the time for it.

Bear in mind, though, my updates would not be quick, as I am still easing my way back into Go again after my last break.

I guess coordinates are on.
I think if black encloses, I'll enclose too. Kobayashi not conventionally possible, Chinese -> harder to develop bottom side. :w4: is normal.

More tangentially, Marcus does bring up a relevant point. While I plan to play boringly, I believe Kirby and I share a propensity for fighting, so I am going to err on the side of thickness rather than speed.

Maybe I should rather say "While I plan..."
