Even game, 6.5 komi, Japanese rules, open joseki, database, standard hidden comments, etc.

I have a busy summer (including US Go Congress in early August) until the end of August,
so I apologize in advance for a possibly extra slow game.

Ed's self-proclaimed 4k rank belies his real strength, and from what I have seen from these two, I think he could probably give Loons a handicap. Let's see how this plays out.

It used to be in his user info. I think it's his AGA rank or something. I'm sure he knows that he is stronger than that, though.

He's not sandbagging. We were at a real live AGA tournament in Santa Monica a just last week where bands spanned several ranks, and he was in the section below me.


Besides that, experience has shown that the extra time tends to favor the lower ranked player.

He used to post his AGA rank, but at one point he was quite clear that he thought he was stronger than that when questioned--perhaps by Magicwand.

As of today ( without last week's results added in yet ) EdLee's AGA rating is -3.44475. His last two tournaments were net negative, so that rating may not be indicative of his true strength. He could easily be between 2K and 3K AGA.
His recent KGS rating has been fluctuating a bit, from mid 1K to almost the upper edges of 4K.

Loons has been maintaining a steady 1.5K rating on KGS for most of this year. Conventional wisdom is that KGS differs from AGA by about a point, so if he were an AGA member, Loons would have an AGA rating of about 2.5


Overall, I'd say we have a fair game here.
