In Japan - Yoda reaches 1,000 wins

The Nihon Ki'in home page reports that Yoda Norio reached this milestone on July 21st when he won his Kisei League game against Akiyama Jiro. Yoda's record currently is 1,002 wins, 498 losses, 2 jigo, and 2 no-results. Yoda is the 12th Nihon Ki'in player to reach 1,000. Others knocking on the door are Kudo Norio with 998 wins and Kobayashi Satoru with 996.

That's quite a milestone. There's still a considerable gap with the current number one and two: Cho chikun (with 1376 wins, 745 losses, 3 jigo) and Rin Kaiho (with 1369 wins, 847 losses and 2 jigo).

Thanks for sharing. Yoda has a seemingly interesting personality to me (from the little that I've observed). How long has he been a pro?

seems to suggest he became pro in 昭和55年. I guess this is 1980 in today's year-counting-system, eh?

According to the story, he won his first game in April of 1980.
