Need help

Hi!
I would like to improve a bit in this game. I was playing go before, but then I made a huge pause of few years. I don't want to do it again, so I would like to make myself a goal.
After that pause, I recently started playing on KGS, just a little bit, and now I'm around 6 or 5k, but I need to establish that also.
I can't dedicate all my time to go, there is school and other stuff in life also, but I would like to dedicate some time to go, learn with some MEDIUM pace, but do it REGULARY.
My goal is to reach strong 1k around June next year. What do you think?
My learning would mostly consist of reading books and tsumego. Here I need your help!
My reading is not so well. That's why I'll try to spend some time everyday solving tsumego, first with some easy problems because of concentration and to stop doing stupid mistakes.
In September, I'm gonna buy some books, so I need your help.
For tsumego, I have only - James Davies : Life and Death
I was thinking about:
1) All About Life and Death, Vol. 1, 2 by Cho Chikun
2) Cho Chikun’s encyclopedia of life and death - first elementary and then intermediate problems
3) Encyclopedia of Life and Death, 900 Elementary problems - I think this is not the same as the previous book, hmm?
Then I need other books... I would like to hear your recommendations!
I have only this right now:
1) James Davies : Life and Death
2) In the beggining
3) Strategic concepts of go
4) The power of the star point : The sanren-sei opening (not sure where is it exactely)
Please help, I'm looking forward to any comments. I would also like to know HOW DO YOU READ GO BOOKS? Are you putting every diagram on board, trying to memorize/learn it? Or you just go through books quickly and reread them from time to time? How much time did you spend on one book? A week, two weeks, a month?
So, I need some good books which will eventually make me stronger - you know my goal so please recommend me some books about this strenght.
