What is your rank?

If someone asks you what your rank is which do you tell them?
*Highest rank means (a) highest of all available ranks, (b) highest rank ever achieved or (c) highest rank from available accounts on a server (for example, highest rank from multiple KGS accounts).

Lance-corporal.
In seriousness, my answer is "I have no idea" almost every time

Imagine someone has a friendly gun to your head, which do you tell them?
Welcome back to active go life.
EDIT: Added a smiley. Pointing a gun at him and welcoming him back created an odd vibe. A smiley should soften things up nicely.

I voted 'other'. I use my AGA rating.
( Why does the poll not have an AGA option?? )

Couldn't AGA rank reasonably be classified as a national rank?

Mostly my KGS rank, since my current EGF rank is 15k, which is kind of... off. Hopefully next week my rank will be around 10k which will be closer to real, but anyway I play more in KGS so it should be more fitting. And most people play in KGS, so...

Whatever spares my life
Seriously, I can represent my country at evading this question. I suppose because rank feels so arbitrary I dislike giving anything precise, partly as I don't play enough. "Not a beginner, but not an expert" if I had to answer

Better delete the "1d" from your profile.

Heh,
My answer is usually my KGS rank, as it's the only real-time server I play on.

Normally, I say provide whatever ranking is most up to date, which, as it happens, has almost always been my KGS rank. But at the U.S. Go Congress, I say my AGA ranking even if it is different, although my ranking is on my name tag. When someone asks that question, I assume they know that ranking systems vary. If they don't know that, then whatever rank I give them satisfies their question.

I said national - my over the board rank is the only one I really care about. Online ranks tend to be 'wrong' (for me, at any rate) for any number of reasons, including but not restricted to
self-declaring my rank at an inappropriately high level to get "free" teaching games
not playing with the right attention (distracted, indifferent, in 'rage' mode, experimenting)
lag-related losses
playing blitz games

This begs the question of which ranking is inaccurate.

I'd say I'm being modest when I say I'm not very good. But it's not modesty, considering I'm one of the weakest of the regular posters here.

I try to give one or two stones below whichever system(s) I think is most relevant to the person asking.

Does it? I'm not sure I follow what you mean? My online ranks on the various servers are correct in the sense that they represent my ability on that server, with all the gotchas mentioned (and there's many more), but I don't take those ranks very seriously (and they vary by 6 stones). My national rank, which represents the results of tournament games, and to a lesser extent, club games, all of them over the board, is the rank that motivates me and is the closest representation of my true ability, at least in my mind. I also believe that everyone else takes the national ranks equally seriously.
