Loss at Congress?

I was surprised to read in the AGA newsletter about the "surprising" loss taken at the US 2011 go congress. I'm not sure how this happened, from my perspective as a congress attendee it seemed to be quite full of players and successful. Any info on the reasons? I'm not an AGA hater at all, just curious and a little disappointed.

I guess it could happen if certain expenses weren't clearly understood during the planning stage. Wasn't there a defecit at another Congress years ago?

My understanding is that at least part of it traced to overbilling by the venue. Eventually when the books were finalized I think the event even turned a small profit. vash3g can correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, I saw this too. I also don't harsh on the AGA; I'm just curious about what happened. Though it isn't hard to lose $22,000 at a big event like that.

To the best of my knowledge, no. This one was the only one to take a finacial loss.
