Biggest surprise;
Song Ronghui defeated Tan Xiao(rank #1 in China).

I could not find SGF file for Tan Xiao Song Ronghui game. It may be uploaded later.



Song Ronghui's next opponent is Byun Sang-il.

I cannot find anything about Byun Sang-il except that he was recently promoted to 1d. He had been in tournaments as an amateur before, but I don't know the specifics of his promotion.

He may be tougher than expected for sure.

He became pro 1/15/2012 through pro entrance exam for public.

From looking at the tournament table at igokisen it seems that no less than eleven games were defaulted. Is there any story behind that?

I would argue that her win against Won Seong-jin in first round is not a surprise result - it was probably a 50/50 match-up.
