Fairbairn's Jowa and Shusai vs. Karigane book now available

Just got an email from S&S saying they have published Fairbairns latest game commentaries in a rather odd format (a flip book). This is Jowa's famous blood vomiting game as well as Shusai vs. Karigane (the killing game). I had about given up that these were going to be published, since John said he was done writing books, so this is very exciting.

Odd edition indeed :) I wish it was in SmartGo books...

Very bizarre format, but I look forward to picking it up.

I'm glad for a non-SmartGo book. I don't want to lose my books when Apple doesn't provide it anymore. :)

Well, they can offer both options... As for losing the book, well, yes, it's a possibility although I think I'll be able to afford a new copy when that happens (so far I only have 3 SG books)

Anders should have some record of who (in the sense of device ids or whatever else) has bought what books.

Apple sure does, but I think Anders does not... Also UDID is tied to the device, not the Apple ID.

Hmm. I guess I wasn't thinking carefully about the mechanics of in-app purchases. I think it *is* possible for him to do it on an opt-in basis, if he so desires.

BTW this format is not as bizarre as it may seem. I remember that some publisher used to publish their SF pocket books in this format in the 1960s, I was a child then, and I remember that I liked the format. Should still have some of ’em somewhere.

So when your device fails, no more books?

The books are bought with an Apple ID, the books are tied to that. An UDID is then tied to an Apple ID (when registering the device with an account), but I am pretty sure a developer can't know the Apple IDs of people who bought their apps, or made in-app purchases without asking for that explicitly to the user (and probably it would violate some Apple policy anyway)

Got it, UDID's came up with hyperpape's comment. That's what confused me. I figured it worked like kindle books.

Kindle books are also tied to Amazon accounts: I can download any of my Kindle books in any device I have registered (namely iPad, iPod and Mac... in addition to the cloud reader)
