this is a game I played in the pub yesterday. I am 3 kyu KGs right now (bordering to 2 kyu) and my opponent is a strong 4 kyu KGS. We played the game without time controls (we were too lazy to set up the clock) and so it took even longer than a tournament game. I would be gratefull to receive some comments on where we went wrong and what we can improve. (Especially in the opening and early middle game.)
So, anyways, after Nigiri, I played White.
I felt black came out better after the opening and I was struggeling hard to get something going. In the middle game, due to a misjudgements by black, I was able to capture some of his stones, which was sort of the turning point of the game.

Perhaps thematically, there are several glasses of wine inside this review, so don't take any of my words as gospel .
: My guess is that black confused minichinese and a variant kobayashi.
: I feel like playing bottom right may have been better; top is so wide that you will surely be able to invade later.
: I also feel like black should have played N17: Or perhaps kosumi. My first thought now is to attach at R17 and settle here; hmm, though L17 directly now looks good to me as it concerns the base of two groups. The joseki after N17 invasion seems to give white a good attack on black's two stones.
I agree continuing on top was perhaps the thing. Perhaps K17 yourself, just to settle? Your 14 was obviously a good point though.
is a moyo-building move
Why this? I don't remember the joseki, but this seems insipid to me compared to, say, M4.
Throwing an idea out there. The top white group is a burden on my mind here, so I'd like to try and settle it using black's group (which you were aiming at before!)
