So this competition is starting in under 2 weeks time.
Does anyone know where the website is this year? I couldn't find anything apart from a report on
http://ranka.intergofed.org/Also, who is going this year?

Remembering from the last time in China, 2 years ago:
1-2 games will be published in Ranka
the rest of the games will have to be haunted in weiqi.sina.cn or something like that.
The official website as they use to handle it in Japan probably won't be there.

A shame, it is nice to have an official website, so that you can view all the participants.
From what's on Ranka already, seems like Lukas Podpera is going for Czech Republic. Colin MacSweeny goes for Ireland. I heard Francis Roads is going for the UK (, despite not qualifying

).

Ranka lists all the participants, just click
PLAYERS at the top.

Thanks, I didn't expect that Ranka would have done that.
I see the UK has no representative, which surprises me a little. Probably the list isn't 100% accurate.

If you check britgo.org, you will see that Francis qualifies quite easily, having the second-most number of points. Are we to send nobody because the person with most points is unable to go?
Best wishes.

I checked this bit first.
Normally the person with the highest accumulated total, who has earned points in the last 5 years (amendment by Council 21st February 2010), is nominated as our representative.

Some games for the first round
Korea 4D vrs Brasil 3D: it is curious that in all the listings, the Korean guy is "only" 4D... May be a "typo"?
Serbia 5D vrs Chile 4k: CHile's player is the only woman in the tournament
Finland 5D vrs Costa Rica 2D
Taipei 7D vs Colombia 2D: Taipei's player is only 13
Sweden 5d vr Argentina 5D: Argentina's player this year is Eduardo Lopez, less know than Aguilar but almost as strong as him. This may be one of the best games in the first round!
Mexico (2d) vrs UK (4D): here goes the UK debut! FYI, the Mexican player has 4 years living in China. He stayed after the WMSG (something I should have done.....I regret I didn't)
ALSO, and very important, Nihon Ki In seems to be keeping the coverage
http://www.nihonkiin.or.jp/amakisen/wor ... pants.htmllet's hope they update as last year, right away after the rounds!

Several people have commented on the South Korean player being only 4dan. There could be various explanations to this
Direction 1, he is '4d' in some korean sense of the word, meaning that he is actually 7d to awesome
Direction 2, he is actually a 4dan, which suggests some deliberate alteration of the qualification system for reasons we may not want to go into here.
Ireland plays South Africa
