Hi, I'm wondering about how the Korean Baduk League teams are formed each year, and how the tournament proceeds. I'm looking at igokisen.web.fc2.com/kr/kl.html, and last year's tournament at the bottom.
Ok, I think I see how the points work: the points equal the total wins. There are 2 stages, and you add the points to get the final rank, and then the top 4 teams play a "post season" consecutive elimination tournament. One question I have is what the "preliminary tournament" is for. Presumably to qualify players for teams, but then how are the teams formed? Also, it looks like each team has to have a female player, but then there doesn't seem to be a rule that the women ever have to play!? In the first stage, of the 12 women in the league only Cho Hyeheon for Team SK Energy has played (twice, 1-1).
Watching the league games on Baduk TV (see gogameguru.com) is lots of fun!
