Is there a good site for following Go Games, rankings, tournament brackets etc. , maybe even real-time game positions. I am thinking something essentially like espn.com for Go.

As mentioned, Kin's website for sgf records, tournament line-ups, and teams in KB league.

WBaduk and Tygem go servers post live games. Also IGS.

Hanguk Kiwon has monthly rankings of Korean pros: http://www.baduk.or.kr/record/ranking.asp
It is in korean, but names are clickable. I made a nicer presentation of same data at http://kivi.pythonanywhere.com/pro

There is Chinese rankings somewhere, but I lost the link.
Edit: http://www.cyberoro.com/info/rank_natio ... iv=9&div=2
If you click on pictures of top 10, you can see the names in latin (and Chinese) letters.

Gogameguru for news, some game records, occasionally commented by An Younggil, Korean professional.

Tv channel dedicated to go, BadukTv: http://www.baduktv.kr (paid service) They have videos on youtube so you get a feel of it http://www.youtube.com/user/onbaduktv

Those links are good. How do you know which games are broadcast from the tournaments?

I don't think Tygem/WBaduk/IGS inform beforehand about which game will be broadcast. Actually I never tried to figure out, because they normally pick interesting pairings at each round, with known players, so I am happy to come across any broadcast, anyway.

Super useful links, but wow, the formatting on that page. Putting text in front of a picture background... the eyes, they burn!

Eventually, I want to be able to follow specific players, and lines of play, and whatever is happening at the moment. Something like people do on espn. You can see the weeks losers and winners, tournament brackets, and follow the scores(games) real time, preferably in a light weight client so that I can sneak a look at work for example. Having the sgf available immediately isn't as important as knowing play when the play happens.

Yeah, I am having a hard time interpreting the games.

For example on Cho U's win/loss page, how can you tell which is a win and which is a loss, does it have anything to do with X's and O's and i so which is which.

O is a win and X is a loss.

Also how do these tournaments work?

http://igokisen.web.fc2.com/jp/meijin.html

For example in the matrix they have X's or B+R do I take it that the X's are losses?

Yes. If you look at the mirror position in the table from the X you can see how the other player won. Or load the game. I find eidogo's online viewer useful: copy the sgf URL and paste in http://eidogo.com/#url:PASTE

Eidogo also has a nice plugin so you can right click on am sgf and have an option to open straight in eidogo.

To be precise, there are "send to eidogo" plugins for Firefox and Chrome.

There is a safari extension for the same purpose at https://github.com/findango/open-with-e ... iextension
But I couldn't see any binaries. I guess one needs to compile/pack it which requires to register as dev with apple, and a few more steps. My laziness dictates I shall switch to chrome.
