Well I think there is an option missing, what about [x] sometimes ?
When it is really hot f.e. two years ago at the cologne go-tournament nearlly everybody was playing with a fan.

I recently got one as a gift, and I won't consider playing with it until I get to 1-dan. I'd feel I was dishonoring the pro that signed it.

I assume you mean

No. I have never played go in conditions where I would have needed one, and I doubt I ever will.

Yes. I always play with my fan at my side. I also like to decorate the playing halls I visit with tasteful wall scrolls from only the very best anime.

I sometimes use a fan during tournaments or serious online games. I am a fast player and holding my fan rather stones/the mouse makes me play slower.

no, I never use a fan.
I have one that I got from a Japanese fellow that I helped out.
I keep it with the Goban (real one with legs) that I also never use to play on.
Both the Fan and Goban are more for decoration than actual use.
I like the empty triangle commic

I do own a fan, but I've never played a game with it. That said, I can understand those who do. I tend to concentrate better if I can fritter away some nervous energy. Usually this means I rummage through the stone bowl, or tumble stones in my hand making a racket. Both bad habits. Quietly rolling a closed fan, or gently wafting a breeze would be much less intrusive. Maybe I'll start. So I vote [x] Plan to.

I always thought people just did it to annoy the opponent.
It works.
