You are one geeky audience broadly speaking so I wonder if they are other WOT reader around there ?

This series started in 1990 and the wait for each book is always a slow torture, but now the 14th and last book "Memory Of light" will finally be published in january ! O tears, joy, tears of joy...
You can already find the prologue, chapter 1, part of chapter 11 ,and chapter 2 as a audio book on tor site. (you have to pay for the prologue)

For those who don't know, i am referring to the series of book by R Jordan http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wheel_of_Time ( its 13 books of around 800 pages so if you want to read them before januray you should start soon.)
This series is special for its crazy number of plots, subplot, main characters and secondary characters. Jordan loved to plant little hints about what will happen in the future and whole sites have been devoted to fan theorie.
For those that are into that: I just realized that Asmodean's killer is revealed .. in the glossary of book 13 ! how sneaky  ..

Contrary to R R Martin, Jordan has a reluctance to kill good guys, but as its the last book, maybe this will change. So I set a little poll.

My wild guess is that Perrin will die but will continue to act in the wolf dream.
We'll see.

Rand dies but gets better.

I'm also voting Elayne, but that's just wishful thinking. Please use balefire so powerful that she gets burned out of all books.

I think it was mentioned in the story itself that Graendal was responsible for the death of two forsaken, implying asmo and the one who died when rand nuked her palace. But it's been a while, so I don't remember all the details.

I think Lews Therin will die but but Rand will be fine, fulfilling the "to live you must die" advice that the foxes (or was it snakes) gave without causing any happy ending problems.

My half-baked theory is that he'd die but take over Ishamael/Moridin's body because of the soul resonance thing.

The foreshadowing for raising the dead seems pretty strong though.

That reminds me, I still need to finish Towers of Midnight. I was very pleasantly surprised by Sanderson's handling of The Gathering Storm :)

Can't wait for Memory of Light!

Just an fyi: There's also some WoT talk in the thread about non-Go books (I don't remember the exact title).

I've been (slowly) re-reading the entire series this year, trying to time it so that I finish ToM just as I get AMoL. I can't wait! (Though, I have avoided reading the prologue and chapter 1, which have already been released.)

I believe this is the thread you're talking about:
Book recommendations? (sci-fi or fantasy)

Oh, I'd forgotten about that thread; it also has some WoT talk, doesn't it?

But no, I was thinking of this thread: Do you regularly read non-go books?

So any body read it :study: ? D received it late (last friday) because i somehow placed my preorder on amazon us and managed to not notice the 3 week delivery delay

I enjoy it so far even if some parts seems a bit rushed.
There are indeed quite some deaths, some i didnt see coming. i enjoy the parts with Androl, refreshing to have a new character to the forefront.
ill stop before i start spoiling ..

Not really a fan. I stopped after the ninth book in the series.

Yep! Got it release day, and spent the next few days devoted to it.

For a 900 page book that is about 800 pages of battles, and being a guy that actually doesn't like non-stop action, I was pleasantly surprised. The constant shifts in perspective kept it from being bogged down, which I really appreciated; some of the later books in the series spent entirely too much time on characters I didn't care for at all (Perrin, I'm looking at you). As you mentioned, I actually really enjoyed the Androl/Pevara segments, and found myself looking forward to more of them. The way some oft-discussed prophecies were finally resolved was... definitely disappointing.

All in all, I can't wait to read the whole series beginning to end, now that I know how it ends. In a year or two. :)

I'm going to have to reread (or more likely relisten on audio) the whole series before I tackle the new book. It's been so long since I read the others!

I'm waiting for the library to get me book 2 in the Mistborn audiobook series at the moment. The Wheel will have to wait...

I've finally finished it. I can't believe it was almost 18 years ago I started reading this series!

Since October 2011, I have been listening to the whole series audiobooks while commuting and/or during lunch breaks, starting from the familiar old volumes (still my favorite part of the series) and then recent ones I had not read before. The timing worked well and I only finished book 13 just before the final book was released.

Well it had some ups and downs but it was a great series overall.

So the most important question needs to be settled: who do you think was strongest at stones/go? Morgase?

(if only the books came with kifu of the games the characters played...)
