Interior decorating Ideas and Go

I am thinking about making a general study area, using the go board as a table for study materials, what are some decorating ideas. It seems the tatami mat and decorative pillows would be a start. Do they use those in Chinese culture as well, or is that just Japanese, are there other approaches to seating.
