Even before their bloodthirsty rivalry Jowa and Genan (then Rittetsu) created this spectacular game with over 160-captures. Is this the record?

You're counting the dead stones as captures, for the purposes of the exercise?

One of the Shi Dingan - Hu Zhaolin games (1740HCEM131) may be another candidate. Moreover, the first capture comes as late as on the move 96. Shi must have earned a lot of silver coins from Ironhead Hu by this game...

I counted between 161-163 captured when played to the end, depending on if they fight for kos. If it's right, then I think we may have a new winner by just a couple of points!

I think we can be pretty sure that they played it out to the end (at least because of the "silver tael" rule mentioned by John F elsewhere. The record books need to be rewritten ;-) .
