Go Congress 2013

Well this question is directly about the game, but is about Go so I assumed it was alright.
I'm unsure on how much it costs to go, flight estimates and ect, however I can get the registration prices and stuff off the website, I just need help totaling everything so I know how much to save. I know it may seem like I should be able to do this myself but I'm just wanting to make sure I don't make any mistakes and would enjoy someone helping me add all this up.
Flight costs, Congress fees, anything else I may be forgettting.
Thanks.
(edit) just to clarify this will be the first time I'm going to being flying and will be the furthest away from home I've ever been, I'm from Charleston WV.

You haven't said which Go Congress you mean, American, European, or some other. So it's probably safe to assume you are from the country whose inhabitants tend to assume it is the only country in the world in which case it is the American.

Is there no way to bring that number down?

Contact the congress director and see if you can trade some work for the congress for a reduced registration.
director2013@gocongress.org You are not obligated to stay on campus but it is hard to find an alternative cheaper near Tacoma than $58.75 per day for room and board.

I suspect the airfare estimate above may be optimistic.
Still, $1500 all-in for a one week vacation is amazingly cheap, IMHO. And don't forget, they throw in a nice t-shirt (this year's design is great), too.
Hope to see you there!

@SoDesuNe, yes I realised that after I wrote it. My aunt is Argentinian and gets annoyed by that. Even "US" has the problem it might upset inhabitants of the United States of Mexico.

My 2 trips to the (2 week) European Go Congress were both cheaper than those suggested above due to:
- Cheaper congress fee
- Budget airlines
- Sharing a room in budget hotel with 3 friends
- Free accommodation in Bordeaux (thanks dmg!)
Poland this year looks to be cheap, though of course getting there for USAians is expensive.

How about Los Estados Unidos del Norte? (Mexicans would probably find that even more annoying.)

Do they have room and board figures for a partial stay? I may only be able to be there for 3 days.

Can you not drive? Would it not be cheaper?

I have learned to drive, but haven't for years and don't have a car and never even considered driving. Flying is much more convenient (cars have trouble on water), and cheaper too. Maybe a car with 5 people in it is cheaper.
