Life In 19x19

Over a players lifetime, how many games can one expect to play? I am guessing I have 10,000 games in me at my rate of one per day.

I have no idea how many I have played in the last 40 years. It would have to be well in excess of 25,000. And I plan on living another 40 years.

Hmm, that's active. Average of almost 6 games per day, every day, for the whole 40 years.

I guess it depends how active one is, how many games per day one plays.
Assuming your Go-lifespan is 80 years, to be very generous, it makes for not quite 30,000 days. Sounds reasonable?

I guess, on average, most people play less than once per day... especially if they treat Go seriously. So maybe 10,000 sounds just right.

Actually, 625 per year, 1.7 per day.

For the first few years I was playing at least one game a day, often more. And in the early days of internet go I was playing as many as 10 fast games a day. And right now I have 9 active games on DGS.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I used to do 10+ games a day as well, way back when, even in a club setting, over a beer (do those count?) But I had long long breaks too, so I am probably maybe hitting 2K now or so, if i am lucky, over the past 30 years... Far behind you, dude.

These days - its maybe 2 games per week, when i feel especially spry.

I don't count my games. Why bother?
