Hey guys, hasn't black won this game? I mean when I tried to count the pieces with chinese scoring, I believe that I won, yet the COSUMI site says that white has won by 87.5 points? Maybe some of my (black) stones are dead, and I don't get it? I just started Go today, so I'm not sure..

oh ok, I get that the right group is dead. However, I still got:

1) Top right group - two eyes -> alive

2) top left group - uncontested, whoever puts a stone loses the "ko", so its like nobodys land?

3) bottom left - even when I lose the right group, don't I still have guaranteed two freedoms in the bottom left corner?

When in doubt, play it out! Let me know if you have trouble walking the tree in this diagram.

I played the game out until no more Black stones were on the board.

Next time, try taking 8 stones from the computer. If you win, go down to 7 stones. If you lose go up to 9 stones. Keep changing the handicap after each game.

No, top right group has only 1 eye, not 2 eyes. This group has 2 points, but unfortunately that makes only 1 eye.

No, top left group is not seki, there's no ko, it's just dead. Verify for yourself this is true.

No, bottom left group is dead shape. Here, the two "freedoms" -- whatever this means for you -- don't make 2 eyes for this group.
This is more difficult for you to see -- see Bill's variations.

This may all seem a bit confusing now, and when you first do learn it, it will seem rather arbitrary. But hang in there. It will make sense in the long run.

I understand everything now, I was confused because I didn't recognize fake eyes I won my first game against the computer today :] (in a 9x9 table on level 1, but still won )

I like Go very much, hope to improve as soon as possible!
