He's a good storyteller in person too it seems.

Simon Singh is great popular science writer. He really makes those books impossible to put down.

I was a bit disappointed about Fermat's Last Theorem: the core, the description of Wiles' presentation of the alleged proof at university, should have been much more detailed. His Code Book is better. Anyway, both books are well worth reading.

A small language point Robert, I hope you don't mind.
Attempted is a better word than alleged there. Alleged has a lot of negative connotations, mainly around trying to deliberately mislead others when used outside of a legal context. If someone wanted to nitpick your statement here (even though I imagine that you're saying nothing controversial at all) they could here.
