This game - a 5D vs a 5D on KGS - was moderately amusing, particularly white's penultimate move.
Can anybody find a better move than filling the ko?

Interesting. My inner ddk moments usually last less than the entire game, not much less unfortunately

Wow. That's just... wow. I guess even dans can have moments of derpitude. What a way for a game to end. I'm the kind of guy who'd offer an undo if I were in black's position.

you forgot to censor the names on several occasions, at the end notably.

If you need to do this in the future you can just open the sgf with a text editor and do a find and replace for the names you want to remove. (Won't work for typos by kibitzers though)

I was watching games on KGS tonight, and saw another one. This was 6D vs 5D

It ended by black's resignation.
Can anybody find a better move than resigning?

Just looks dead after E6.

White's last move is also really bad, since he could've lived with E4.

Yup. But white should have played E4 instead of F8, of course :)

Recently, I have had a string of games that seem to end that way either I or my opponent makes a brain dead obvious mistake(self atari or missing an easy capture), after a complicated Ko Fight or during an extended capturing race. I suspect it is due to some sort of fatigue or endurance problem.

It is? It looks unconditionally dead to me.
After E6, E4, E6, E5, G3, white can have the ko if he wants, but black connects underneath.
Where is white's second eye?

Of course, you are correct - it's not ko, and can be killed.

But more relevant than this, to me, are the time settings for this game. Surely, we have all made stupid mistakes with only a few seconds on the clock. I don't know these players, but a 5d or 6d rank ondicates that they've likely made fewer such mistakes.

There's also the possibility that an outside factor came into play. For example, maybe the baby started crying and the guy had to leave. Or maybe the boss walked in and asked for the guy's TPS report. :-)

Hmm...it is a ko for the life of half of the group - after the other half dies. That half is about 20 points, which ought to be enough for B to win.

Interesting idea, even if white still loses a lot of points.
