Anyone here play? I'm a Wizard on Act 2 Inferno, farming Warden/Butcher runs and trying to make a bit on the AH as well. My gear leaves a lot to be desired (19k DPS lol), so I don't think I'll get to Act 3 any time soon which is where most of my friends are stuck on for the time being.

If anyone wants to add me, my handle is Junshin#1211. Here is my current build: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/w ... dbY!cbabYY - Any suggestions for farming/gear/builds welcome (and let's share handles).

I'm happy you guys are enjoying Diablo 3. I tried it but the fact that you can't choose your own stats like in the previous games really put me off. The joy of really deep customization was one of the main points that I loved with the first games. But it's still a great game and I like the AH addition and all that shizzle:)

Also guilty, and a little bit ashamed of buying it despite its online-only nature.

I'm a huge fan of hardcore (after playing Dark Souls, I feel like death should have consequences), though I do have softcore characters too. I haven't progressed beyond nightmare with any character, but I take things slow (I also like achievements). My current plan is to hit hardcore level 60, die, raise a glass to my fallen hero, and basically stop playing. My main hardcore character is about lvl 48.

If you haven't done HC, give it a shot--it requires an attitude change, but is more exciting. Going back to softcore is like jumping on a trampoline after skydiving. I think players are also higher quality/less annoying (basically the same thing IMO), at least after level 25 or so. And there isn't a real-money auction house in hardcore--since you lose your equipped gear (not your stash) on death, those who want a hardcore RMAH are nuts.

True, its a much richer gaming experience. Died at lvl11 to my arrogance (those blue hard hitters with the glowing hammers in Wortham). Rolled a new character and am playing a lot more cautious now :D

I really want to finish Inferno with my Barb on SC before giving HC priority.

Well you couldn't really chose in D2 either ^^ but you probably heard that before :D

I really shouldn't even consider it, but here I am looking at the webpage and the buy now. Thankfully they have a silly design where I can't even (in any obvious way) find the price until I create a battle.net account. That's obnoxious enough that it's closed, and disaster is averted for another day.

I played the Beta weekend and surprisingly after long years of playing Diablo 2 (HC - yeah ^^), Diablo 3 didn't appeal to me. Lucky me :P

Had some random nostalgia for D2 and impulse bought D3. I'm looking forward to approximately 72 hours from now when I'll be allowed to finish act 1 and pass level 13. Three days from now I shall be Screwtape#1115. Also, there's no core like hardcore (being able to play hardcore almost right away is awesome).

Aside from having trial account restrictions for the first 72 hours as a recently added and unintended (?) feature, I think it lives up to D2.

I was cynical, but I'm ultimately pleased with the skill system. I think they're trying to give you diverse builds slowlyish without arbitrary prereqs and skill point saving for cookie cutting.

Other than making you able to click on terrain to make things fall over more and arbitrary default mouse changes, the gameplay difference from D2 hasn't presented itself to me (except that my precious frogs have some kind of debauched pathing rather than predictable patterns like firestorm (so far as I can tell)).

Funny, I never played Diablo 2. I bought it, in part, for nostalgia from Diablo 1, which this seems pretty faithful to.

My hardcore DH is about level 53 now in Hell difficulty. I had some scary calls late in Act I, and I think I need to re-tune my character. I've focused almost exclusively on HP and damage (character is around 29,000HP and 4,000-5,000 DPS). But this strategy isn't cutting it for a DH in Hell. This actually makes me happy, because it means there is complexity to the game I have yet to untap--assuming there IS a better strategy.

I created an HC Monk while I rethought my DH (yeah, I created another HC character BEFORE dying this time), and realized the "fun" level had decreased (though not completely) for my DH somewhere after level 30. So perhaps additional strategies will open up the game. Or the lack thereof will convince me it is, in fact, very shallow and I'll quit playing it. I'm happy either way.

EDIT: Well, didn't get to try too many additional strategies. Level 53 Demon Hunter, RIP. Hello, Level 1 DH :).

Diablo 3 was the game I had waited a decade for, and for the first two weeks after release I played it way too much. Like, crazily much! Then Inferno mode wore me down. It wasn't hard, it was just tedious, annoying and frustrazing. I had zero fun after act1/Inferno. I levelled some "alts" and tried hardcore mode (I had played D2 in HC for a few years), but found that D3 wasn't really suited for it at this point in the game's lifespan.

My interest in the game vanished unexpectedly quickly and I haven't played in over a month. I don't even know why, exactly, it wasn't fun. It's well-done in many ways, but I think it just wasn't as "playable" as D2, which I had played passionately for literally years. I also found items to be rather generic and bland, and the dependency on the Auction House was a definite turn-off. Of the seven friends who started D3 with me, six lost interest pretty much simultaneously with me, which I found to be rather telling.

Then again, while disappointed that my romance with D3 ended so fast, I'm also grateful for it. Work-wise I just can't afford addictions of that kind right now, so all is well! :) Still got 200 hours worth of entertainment out of it, which is far more than today's video games usually offer me -- so, a good investment, in the end.

Yeah, this game got stale so fast...but still, it was worth the $60 I'd say based on the number of hours I put in prior to logging on only to check the AH (which I've also stopped bothering to do).

You guys need to give Path of Exile a try if you liked D2... Google it, you won't regret =)
