This was a really exciting game. Sadly, I can't quite remember all of the details, so it might seem less exciting as I've recorded it, and I can't really recall much at all of the really tense part, which lasted through most of the endgame. The final sequence recorded is wrong, and prior to that there are a large number of other sequences where the exchanges of black for white stones are right, but come in the wrong order.

From 22 onward, W gets a large wall, but B has a lot of territory to compensate. W36 at r4 is worth a huge number of points. We couldn't decide after the game if W48 was well placed - q11 seems too close to one side, q12 too close to the other. From 56 on, B tries to hunt down a W corner invasion, leading to a complicated situation. In retrospect it seems B may have done better to contain the invasion first, and then scrape out the eyes in the corner. W76 is probably better one space over, at g7, which seems to put more pressure on J6. At 82, W clearly wishes that he had played C2 earlier, but at this point B can't be bothered to respond to nonsense like that. (Or, looking at it carefully, maybe W82 is itself simply gote!) At 92, the situation with nets, ladders, squeezes, and so on is extremely complicated.

B probably could have made the d6 string the price for W's settling in the center, but B chose to simply take C12 instead (which is probably the smaller side). Now B's corner is surprisingly weak, and although W didn't play perfectly, B gets sealed in in sente. Now the game starts to revolve around an aggressive B reduction attempt at K16.

Up through 139 I think I have the order right (although m11/m10 may be out of order). Past that things get messy. W tried very hard to kill and neglected to make some compromising kikashi (e.g., L17) which ended up complicating the game a great deal. Past 180 or so I don't have the order quite right, which is a shame, because it was a sequence in which someone stronger might have seen a number of possibilities. Anyway, q12 was captured, the entire upper right became a temporary seki (pending the death of J18), but W eked out enough points in the endgame.

Thoughts?

game stops long before 139.
Are you black?
How can w's wall be neglected for so long by both? It should be the focus of the game!

There's no way to cut out misclicks on eidogo, so every time the game ends there should be a variation, and it continues on that branch.

That's a cute tsumego though.

Review-wise

The fight after 13 not joseki seems without merit to me.

I think 18 at M5 would be sufficient.

I was surprised by how bad 26 was; it looked good to me. 27 seems it should be at R4 already. Relatedly, 26 should have been at R4, after which black must live small in gote. After 47 white's wall does not seem especially thick to me, so at 48 I might force at M7 and L7 (should white have done this at 30 and 32?), and then maybe Q13.

I don't believe 53 is correct style; better jump downwards? I don't like continuing locally anyway because you are undercut at L2 already. Maybe R11 tenuki now? White's wall may yet be thin.

Damn, we both missed that tsumego. That would have been brutal. Thanks for the review, loons (and thanks to you, confused, for fixing the sgf).

Some thoughts on the bottom right. :)

Thanks for the variations, Bill. Cut first, cut first! I can't believe I didn't think more seriously about that. I was going to ask you more about your instincts for your W variation to 20, but now that you mention it, B's prospects look very, very poor locally. I'm not sure how I could have missed it.

Thanks for the comments, Joaz! I was white, actually, but your comments gave white every bit as much food for thought as they did black.

(Of course, 162 =_=) took me a while to understand 155 is in atari so 162 sucks.

edit: joaz solved the puzzle already
