I imagine I'm not the only one who continues hopefully checking gosensations.com on a regular basis. Today, with again no new posts, I got to thinking about why it is I cared about that site, and why I feel a bit sad that it seems to be inactive. It's nothing particularly deep, but I decided to leave some of those reflections as a short note in the comments section of the last post there. I'm reposting that note here in hopes that others who appreciate gosensations.com will be inclined to also express it. And maybe this will encourage the gosensations posters to keep doing that work.

Hi Gosensations folks,

This is just a short letter of encouragement from a humble 2k. I think this site is very valuable. I learn a lot from the commented games, especially about fuseki, tesuji, and joseki. But more importantly, it gives a epic quality to the online play of amateurs.

We all love watching the strong dans battle on KGS, but seeing those games deemed noteworthy and be reviewed here somehow lends them a greater importance. It encourages me to pay more attention to my own games and to the games I watch. And it makes me want to build my skills as best I can. Even though I will never be a pro, or even a meaningfully strong amateur, my games can become noteworthy to others who seek to better their own play.

I don't know why there have been no new posts here recently and I don't want to speculate. I just want to thank you for the work you do running this site, to tell you that it is appreciated, and that it makes the online go world more vibrant.

Sincerely,

petition, 2k kgs

I guess part of the problem is that Alexandre Dinerchtein starts many projects but doesn't follow up on them. When it doesn't need maintenance like

* http://sanrensei.info/
* http://play.baduk.org/
* http://style.baduk.org/
* http://baduk.eu/

this works out fine.

But all those pages that would need maintenance / input just keep lingering around for ages, even when they aren't very alive anymore, like

* http://gosensations.com/ (which still is somewhat active, mostly by volunteers)
* http://9-dan.com/ (completely defunct)
* http://baduk.pro/ (almost silent)

There are other active projects of him as well like the Korean style insei league and the goama newsletter.

I never understood why he did't consolidate all these materials in single domain. It would be very rich in content and one content would advertise for the other (+ he would save a lot in domain registration fees). Well, not my business. But regarding the OP, don't expect Alexandre to invest much time there, you see how many pages he has to maintain and these are only those in English, there might be more in Russian.

Might be an attempt at SEO (whether it's effective or not, I can't remember). As separate domains, his pages can link to each other.
