So I've recently joined the Internet go community (previously was playing AI and re-constructing old games) I have some stuff that I'm confuses about.

What does it mean when in results in said (B+R) or (W+ (a number) ) or (W+R) and such. does it mean black/white won, but then what's the R stand for?

I'm sorry if that sound stupid, but thanks a lot if you could help.

Yes, the result marks the winner. R means Resignation (ie, the opponent resigned before the game was counted) and the number means the game did get as far as the counting stage and that's the margin of the win.

Don't worry about asking questions that might seem basic... we were all there once.

And you have a cute kitty.

=^..^=

Since the answer has been given, I feel free to stray into [OT] territory (like closing dame points or something ;-) )

In Germany there’s a saying:
Quote:
There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers
But I prefer:
Quote:
There are no stupid questions, only … [pause] … stupid people—those who don’t ask questions.

:-)

Cordially, Tom

Hi TheCatLver,
You may also see B+T where T means Time.

I know void and N.A would result from a triple ko etc., but what would cause a ? or unknown result to happen?

The result isn't included in the game record.

Hi CatLiver/CatLever/CatLover,

Actually, there are stupid questions, stupid people, and stupid answers.
But none of them applies to your post. Good questions. :)

Ah.... In that case, you might want to look at this: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=9833&start=34

(it's post #35 in that thread, if I've messed up the URL)
