Recently I've mused on whether it is better to replay single-diagram kifu or 50-move diagram kifu. Well, I'll put on the table my initial impressions.

Replaying a single-diagram kifu is closer in feel to an actual game. At least one is forced to look around inside the record for each move. This trains the brain to look at the board and read out moves before putting down a stone, I think. Also, less paper is used :)

The 50-move-diagram kifu are easier to play through and may be more digestible for beginners who find single diagrams too time-consuming. This might be better for replaying just to absorb moves.

I like to replay SGF files and guess the next move. :)

It's great if I just want to get through the game without searching.

Actually, a single big diagram with big :black: stones versus 4 smaller 15-move diagrams all printed on the same page, the paper used is the same (1 page), the ink used is unclear (big :black: stones once, versus smaller :black: stones printed multiple times. )

What's this 'paper' stuff you're all talking about?

By "less paper", I meant that whereas a single-diagram kifu can be printed on just 1 page, a 50-move diagram kifu usually needs more than one.

I'm fascinated by guessing the next move, but I yet have to gain more experience and knowledge before I can do it consistently. I know that my baduk skills will get better once I'm able to do so.

4 smaller diagrams on the same 1 page.

Forgot about that one  However, I find it a bit difficult to follow the small numbers on these shrunk diagrams without a magnifying glass. With a bit of effective formatting one can make the diagrams as large as can fit within 1 page.

sorry, I'm late to the party...

I prefer a single page, whole game diagram... its a form of guess the next move.
