Hi Fllecha,

:b13: Possible -- you have to know your shape has a weakness at C11,
so as long as you can handle it, it's OK.

:b17: R2 hane. R2 is very big because the two groups at the lower right
corner are in a contact fight! At that corner, whoever first gets eye space
and a base will have a very big advantage (settled),
versus the opponent's group which lacks eye space or a base.
R2 is very big. The local move is not o6. It is R2.

:w18: W gets this huge shared vital point first.

:b25: Again, you start a contact fight and then you ignore it,
and tenuki, like :b17: .

:b31: W can capture this :b31: stone -- How ?

:b33: This is a wedge, and it fails to split W.
You get a bad shape here if W replies a certain way.

:w36: If W simply connects at F9, you get a bad local shape,
and your :b33: wedge has no meaning.

:b33: is a very common, standard mistake at these levels:
it simply fails to do what you want: to split W.
It's bad.

:b45: W can live very easily. Can you find a way (or two)
to make life as W ?

:b47: If you thought W was almost dead at :b45: ,
then why didn't you try to kill it ?
Again, why did you ignore a local fight and play tenuki ?

:b61: E11.

:b67: Homework: instead of your move o9,
if Black pushes at B12 now, what is W's correct local reply ?
If B pushes at B12, and W ignores it, then what is B's local follow-up ?

My homeworks:

:b31: h2? :w32: h3! And if :b33: G4 then :w34: j2

If black plays :b67: b12 white connects underneath with a12 and if white tenuki black plays a12 cut

Now i see that white easily saves the group because of the eye in e3 due to the parabola shape and the other eye at f7 f6 because of tortoise shape

Was all right the ko threats?

Many Thanks

If W a12, what does B play locally ?

Hi Fllecha

Ed has given all the answers, so let me ask you a question:

:b33: I can understand you did not read 3 moves deep when playing this, but surely you can read 3 moves deep in the analysis and answer your own question?

Retry

If black b12 if white tenuki or play a12 black plays b15 and the white group is dead even if he connects. Best answer to black b12 seems to me c15 to stabilize the corner and let the two stone die

A few more comments. :)

Main focus: Attack more. As Ed says, follow through.

Also, it is generally good to separate your opponent's stones or to keep them separated. Then they are then easier to attack and harder to defend. Also, combine attacking with something else, if you can, such as defending your own stones or making territory.
