No. I probably will buy nicer ones at some point though.

Commented yes, uncommented rarely.

3. Do you like watching live pro games?

Live games, no. Recordings, yes. If I lived in a different timezone I'd probably watch live ones.

4. Do you like solving go problems?

Yes. Very much.

Quote:
5. Do you like studying or memorizing joseki?

I like reading about joseki when reviewing games to see where it all went wrong. I don't memorise, too much effort for too little reward.

6. Do you like reading go books?

Yes. I don't do it too often though.

7. Do you like playing?

Yes, especially over the board. Online against strangers, not as much.

8. Do you like teaching go?

I never mind giving teaching games to clubmates but I find teaching harder than playing in many ways.

9. Do you like sharing your interest in go with members of go clubs, with family members, with friends or online?

If they show an interest. Otherwise, no.

I like the people I've met through it.

1. collecting fancy go boards and stones? - I've ended up with a nice set, finally. No need for collecting, though. Anyone want to buy a set of stones?

2. replaying pro games? - Yes. Leaning towards historic games, rather than contemporary.

3. watching live pro games? - "Live" being the operative word; it was a great pleasure to watch the AlphaGo matches with friends from the local go club.

4. solving go problems? - Yes.

5. studying or memorizing joseki? - Haven't tried this yet, in earnest. Perhaps someday I will.

6. reading go books? - In small doses. Only have two. Plus those two joseki dictionaries someone lent me that I haven't read :(

7. playing? - Yes

8. teaching go? - Figuring out how to introduce/explain go is a fun problem.

9. sharing your interest in go with members of go clubs, with family members, with friends or online? - Yes. I hope I've passed the evangelical/zealot phase.

I wouldn't call myself a collector, but I do like having aesthetically pleasing, functional equipment. My shin-kaya board and yunzi stones are perfectly serviceable, but I'd like a nicer board and stones one day.

Quote:
2. Do you like replaying pro games on your go board or on a digital device?

Yes. I generally replay commented games from a book on my physical board. It's a way to get more use out of my equipment and enjoy the game away from the computer.

Quote:
3. Do you like watching live pro games?

The only live games I've watched were the AlphaGo games. That was a lot of fun, but I'm not sure that I could spend time watching matches on a regular basis.

Quote:
4. Do you like solving go problems?

Yes. In addition to being fun in its own right, it's a great way to fit the game into small chunks of time.

Quote:
5. Do you like studying or memorizing joseki?

I like studying the principles behind joseki moves. I don't like strict memorization, though if I really understand the moves I'll likely remember them as well.

Quote:
6. Do you like reading go books?

Yes, very much. Some are more interesting than others, of course. I enjoy purely instructional books as well as those that share some of the historical and cultural background surrounding the game and its prominent players.

Quote:
7. Do you like playing?

Yes. I like board games in general, and go is my favorite.

Quote:
8. Do you like teaching go?

I'm not sure. I've introduced the game to a number of people, but haven't had a chance to go very far beyond that. I generally like teaching, though, so if someone wanted instruction I'd be happy to help.

Quote:
9. Do you like sharing your interest in go with members of go clubs, with family members, with friends or online?

Yes. My friends and family are important to me, so I naturally want to invite them into a topic that consumes a lot of my free time. I don't push it on people who aren't interested, though. Engaging in a community of players is also important to me, though I mostly do that online. I like going to the local go clubs, but it's hard to justify time away from my family on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

Quote:
10. Do you like to enjoy go in other ways?

It can be fun to try and connect what I learn about myself while playing the game to other situations in my life. I also like introducing the students in my community college classes to the game. I have dreams of using some of my (stagnant) web development and/or writing skills on a go related project, but it's hard to find the time to move that beyond the conceptual stage.

1. Do you like collecting fancy go boards and stones?
Not really, it seems like an indulgence if I'm not really good at playing the game. I have a folding board and stones for taking with me -- I just like it if I have something on which to play Go. If I ever get into the dan ranks I'll definitely get something nice.

2. Do you like replaying pro games on your go board or on a digital device?
I just tend to focus on playing and solving problems.

3. Do you like watching live pro games?
The AlphaGo Yi Se-tol games were the highlight of my year so far. I definitely want to watch more live games with commentary, especially if Michael Redmond is a commentator.

4. Do you like solving go problems?
One of my favorite activities :) I look forward to it.

5. Do you like studying or memorizing joseki?
I don't really do this. I've tried in the past, and I appreciate it, but the goal is a bit distant. I need to concentrate on other things.

6. Do you like reading go books?
In targeted doses I love to sit with a Go book.

7. Do you like playing?
I love playing, especially face to face, the shared experience. Online Go is good too but I need a reminder that I'm playing against myself otherwise my opponent is an 'anonymous threat' (I hold my breath the entire time).

8. Do you like teaching go?
I especially enjoy showing people how to play. I take every opportunity I can to do this.

Online playing schedule: irregular and by appointment
1. Do you like collecting fancy go boards and stones?
Yes.
It is not just boards and/or stones, but also other items and parafernalia. Posters, watch, miniature folding room divider screen (used as table divider), tatami, special go storage cabinet, etc. Doesn't always have to be that fancy or expensive. Wishlist: cufflinks, just as a gadget.
Although within limits and budget, I like collecting that much that I have now a bit too many sets. Still lots to wish for though.

2. Do you like replaying pro games on your go board or on a digital device?
Yes.
But I don't as often as I would like to. If I do, I admire the creativity and intellect of such good players, even without understanding all aspects of the game. Preferably on one of my nicer sets, but most often on screen.

3. Do you like watching live pro games?
Nah.

4. Do you like solving go problems?
Yes.
Handy apps for spare minutes, daily. Not from books.

5. Do you like studying or memorizing joseki?
Not really. See my ranking :-)

6. Do you like reading go books?
No.
Exception: Go Almanac.

7. Do you like playing?
Very much so.
Private, club, online.
Edit: I should also mention rengo. I find rengo games entertaining, and often surprising, when your partner doesn't play the 'obvious' move.

8. Do you like teaching go?
Yes.
Fairly active with it, even at my level.

9. Do you like sharing your interest in go with members of go clubs, with family members, with friends or online?
Yes, up to the point they become bored by it :-)

10. Do you like to enjoy go in other ways?
Yes.
I made some new friends through go. Go community is good.
History, culture, appreciation of craftmanship, pro games: what's not to like?

5. Do you like studying or memorizing joseki? (No, joseki study is boring)

6. Do you like reading go books? (Yeah, getting new ideas is fun)

7. Do you like playing? (Of course. I like playing the most)

8. Do you like teaching go? (Yes, but I'm not doing that regularly. I enjoy giving reviews though)

9. Do you like sharing your interest in go with members of go clubs, with family members, with friends or online? (I havent done that yet. Would love to get the chance some day)

10. Do you like to enjoy go in other ways? (If I can get it to work, I like one color go. Tesuji problems. Memorizing games esp. Shuei/Shusaku games. I also have taken a liking to handicap games as white lately)

1. Do you like collecting fancy go boards and stones?

Not so much. I have what I need.

2. Do you like replaying pro games on your go board or on a digital device?

Very much, even if I can't understand most of it.

3. Do you like watching live pro games?

No. I prefer to wait for the game to be over so that I can go through it at whatever pace I choose.

4. Do you like solving go problems?

Sometimes more than playing real games.

5. Do you like studying or memorizing joseki?

I find it unproductive at my current level but I've enjoyed the little that I've studied.

6. Do you like reading go books?

Too much. Since taking up Go, I've created a pile of other literature to get caught up on.

7. Do you like playing?

Very Much. Sometimes I play for 48 hours strait and still feel like I can't get enough.

8. Do you like teaching go?

I LOVE to teach people to play Go. I'm always fascinated to see what things certain people take to easily and which things are harder for them.

9. Do you like sharing your interest in go with members of go clubs, with family members, with friends or online?

I try not to just to avoid being "the Go guy."

10. Do you like to enjoy go in other ways?

If pondering the abstract implications of certain moves when I'm totally away from the game counts than yes.

Yes to everything, although I'm not stockpiling go equipment. I bought slightly more than I actually need, and I'm usually on the lookout for more pieces being sold, but I'm not in a hurry to build a large collection.

No to numbers 5 and 8 but everything else is a big yes. Why are you asking by the way? :) But thanks for posting. It's fun reading other peoples thoughts on this. I think I may have just answered my own question. LOL
