I suffered a crushing, crushing loss from this player. I want to improve from this game. Moves are commented in detail, and I thank everyone who takes a look at it.

I wouldn't call that a crushing loss. You had a dragon snapped off (and it's questionable that it was really dead, although it was certainly very heavy). It happens all the time, especially at your level.

Move 6: Just approach at A. He's still going to have weak points all over his side that you can exploit later. You'll have to play around P16 sooner or later, but you don't need to do so immediately.

Thank you Jdl, you got my spirits up. Although I am sad that I couldn't finish the game. I guess the strange nature of the game caused me to screw up my calculations completely. Hurr... :study:

Don't be so pessimistic. Everything was fine until you made a silly mistake.

Hey. Guests can be like boxes of chocolate - you never know what you get.
Few comments about the game. I think you were over-reacting about black's moves. Even if your opponent decides to make some wild move right in the center of the board doesn't cancel the fact that the easiest places to make territory are at corners and sides.

Move 6: Sanrensei doesn't compete with territory. Both are frameworks. It's also important to understand that direct invasion to black's framework without support is exactly what black wants. Therefore support is required. I would play this move at Q10 instead, before black gets a nice double-wing there.

Move 7: I find it difficult to quantify the merits of this move. Makes some ladders josekis favourable and might support center fighting.

Move 16: White could probably defend the wall, but R13 looks like a better shape. Alternatively it's possible to extend along the right side.

Move 20: Good choice!

Move 27: Yup, that's the shape point. Move 26 at R11 should connect the groups, as well as give liberties to win capture race if black decides to play Q7 instead.

16 I would have played on the right side. Perhaps the simple r13, or perhaps a bit further down. Your group on the right is weak, especially due to the weakness at r14
21 I'd try to connect to my group on the right. Perhaps s12
30 You're too weak for that. Now it's much more urgent to stabilize your group than to prevent him from connecting. P13 or Q13 look nice.

Wow...

Toge, Li Kao, and Amnal, I would like to thank you guys immensely. I see now that perhaps after the mistake, the game wasn't in my favor, but that I definitely...well, that I think my hard work is beginning to... to pay off.

I'm going to get better. I promise.

Seems probably okay to me, and perhaps better shape than my suggestion. I was not sure if black has a good attacking pincer after P13, but in this kind of situation I am often just too scared :D

Heh, and I'm too confident at not dying, so don't take my word for it :D
