Hey guys,

this is a game of mine I played at our local go meeting. I played this opponent before and won with giving him three handicap stones, so we decided to play this one also with three, but it's probably too much.
I would be very happy about any comments one my or my opponents moves. But you don't have to comment on move 177. Both my opponent and I saw a white stone at Q12, he shouted "Oh, damn!" and I played the double atari, which wasn't there...

In general I think you tried to settle the position too often, sometimes even accepting an inferior result to avoid complications. When playing W in a handicap game, it makes more sense to keep the position uncertain and fluid -- this should bother your opponent more than you!

More specific comments:

Moves 29-31) settle the W group, but on a very small scale, giving B a good result with no effort. Sliding directly to S16 is better. This does not fix the shape so much, leaving more aji to exploit later. If B answers at R17 anyway, W saves a full move. Another option is to run into the center, with a move like O13, leaving the corner alone. This preserves the option of stealing the entire corner later with R17.

Moves 37-39) are the right idea strategically, but move 37 would be better simply extending to H15. W can give up the F16 stone if B goes for it (F15 F14 E16 E14), keeping the wall intact. B would then have to worry about W invasions like J17.

Moves 41-43) again fix the shape, helping B secure a large corner. The two W stones on the side are not yet in serious danger, so this would be a good time to invade the B corner at R3 or R4 or R6. If you really feel the need to strengthen the W stones first, jump into the center or attach at F2 -- fixing the shape there does not cost anything, since that B corner is already secure.

Move 55) is too late and leads to a bad result. After forcing B to add stones at O2 and S9 and R9 and O7, it seems unreasonable to think you can still steal the corner territory. Just think how much easier it would be to live here without the previous exchanges.

Thank you very much for your comment. I'll definitely try to play faster and search more complications. Especially your hints about invading the lower right corner were useful for me even though it should have been more obvious to me during the game.
