I play against high handicaps more than with them, but the highest handicap I have played with in a while is 4 against my 7d teacher lol. I'm expecting to get slaughtered.

1 protects the 2 point mis read lol epic fail on my part I'm certain 3 is trouble for that stone but if he plays 3 I will sac it and take a big play.

There is no way MW will play that 3.

As a local move I expect some kind of capping move. Perhaps J15 or K15.

Put he probably needs to tenuki. 7 stones is so evil. You can't afford the time for moves you'd normally make.

i agree with capping play. i wanted to add that sometimes you can't afford to spend time with usual moves but sometimes you omit urgent move and you are... in troubles, but you are probably also right in this and white can tenuki

i think that such handicap has to be outfought anyway, so it doesn't greatly matter where will the battle take place

For I like this play. The main reason is that I do not like Magicwand's next play at "a" if I make a simple response on the left side. I play high because if I play low it is easy for White to reduce any Black territory on the top side. I do not play closer to avoid a counter-pincer. And this play attacks the stones to some extent.

I don't know whether this play is greedy or just foolhardy. Even if Black lives, White will be strengthened. OTOH, I understand that Black does not want to just let White have a big territory here.

This looks more like it. Attack the White stones on the right and threaten to reduce or invade the top side.

I feel that B12 is exactly the move Magicwand was looking for. Easy way for him to "Grab flow of the game", he'd say. As for the actual moves Balmung expects Magicwand to play, those are just flat out delusional. That analysis is worse than no analysis.

To be fair to balmung, his evaluation and predictions are as expected for a 7k. If he could come up with moves MW might actually play he wouldn't be 7k.

If you're saying that 7k analysis in general is delusional, I won't argue there. Half the time my own ostensibly 2d analysis is delusional or worse.

MW is goading balmung into making a big target. Balmung said he'd tenuki if MW contacts the stone--which is probably the only time he shouldn't, as it makes it easy to live!--it will be interesting to see what he does here. MW is gambling that balmung will decide to move that stone, and that his sabaki-fu is not good. I'll put 4-1 odds (that he'll try to save it) on the former and the latter is pretty much a given... I'm guessing he'll do something like L16 or K15. I think Bill's N15 is still a very good move. Actually, I think it's game-breaking, white would have a very hard time recovering from it.

I actually like that Balmung is posting analysis. It's probably wrong, but considering more can't be worse than not considering at all in the long run :p Though I do find it sort of funny that he claims F17 was a misread because of one probably suboptimal response by white and gives no actual sequences.

p.s. Should I be sad that the attachment on top was probably what I'd have played as white? :p

I played chinese 5d, a 2 kyu, and 1 kyu at the tournament saturday, and with each of them this idea is what kept popping up. The two kyu showed me that spliting your opponents stones to make a weak group is good, The one kyu I beat by 70 points just by using this idea, The 5d said I took to many stones lol 7 stones was to much, and then he told me the only thing keeping me from dan is life and death and postional judgement, both of my 3 kyu friends say that they have trouble beating me because what ever I want I get, but I usually don't want what is best. So My ego is boosted right now, and I should have done this earlier, but I will use it now. oh btw don't comment on my ego or rank right now I really don't give a flip what you guys might have to say(because it usually bad and based on old outdated data of my playing strength), I'm taking all the advice I got from local players, and using it in my games. I hate to be rude to all of you when really only a few of you have been unhelpful jerks. Funnily enough the 5d said he wants to find a way to help us in alabama become as strong as the atlanta Go club has.
