In line with my completely serious New Year resolution,

http://www.lifein19x19.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=87209#p87209

I spent an hour with the Lego digital designer:

Unfortunately when I came to cost it up I got a price of 80 GBP - yikes. Even after I made the Goban hollow. So I will have to give up on my dream I think.

edit: though there's always the chance that buying through the Lego designer program costs a premium that I can avoid by shopping at ebay.

Brilliant idea. Now my opponent won't move misplaced stones with his sleeve anymore. So the name "go" is derived from lego! I should have thought about that before. Maybe square pieces makes it more beautiful and instructive.

Which in turn is short for LEg GOdt, which means more or less "play well". So the name "go" means "well".

(curiously, google translate translates "leg godt" to "good game", which is not accurate, but suits go rather well)

e: the confusion of google translate is due to the fact, that Danish and other Scandinavian languages have several different words that can be translated "play". This particular word means children playing, not playing games.
