Here's some good news for those of you hoping to stay mentally fit into your old age: You don't need cryogenics - playing go might be good enough. According to this article, education has been associated with a longer life and a decreased risk of dementia. Not only that, but it has also been shown that by challenging themselves mentally, people can make up for educational disadvantages they encountered earlier in life, and "regular mental workouts can actually alter the brain’s neural circuits in middle-age and older adults." So all that time you've been wasting on go - it turns out it's good for something: it increases your chances of having more time to waste. Yay! Let's play go!
