Re: Database engines

I may have to hand in my developer license for this but I think Access has it's place, especially with this kind of application. I vaguely recall reading something about distributing Access "applications" that don't require the user to have Access installed. That said, with Access you are only ...

Re: playing against a pro recommended opening

I've long assumed that we amateurs, as regards go development, are to be regarded as children. When we are weak/young we expect beginner/childish mistakes but hope we will grow out of them. Recently, however, I've been leaning towards the conclusion that amateurs, even the best, never grow out of ...

The fact that you can't figure it out yourself makes you very likeable person.

Re: What has Go done for you outside of Go?

Go has brought me endless nights with too little sleep, either by playing or writing programs. Outside of lost sleep, I don't know anything else it has brought me. For some reason I keep coming back for more.

That happened to me in the early days of the Internet (1995-2000), when I played game ...

Re: Baduk TV. Subtitles

For YouTube you'd have to split it into 10 minute parts, which is inconvenient to watch. It's really distracting.
Thanks.

Actually, I like the 10 minute split. Or at least don't have a problem with it. I seldom have 1h chunks to watch videos. But I can squeeze in several 10 min chunks spaced out ...

The brain is good at chunking. Learn fundamental pieces of information, and you'd be surprised at what it can put together.

I assume we use the word "read" differently. I use it in the tsumego sense, where you know you have the answer to a problem because you have tried all possible combinations ...
