Re: 1k ogs game for consideration
thanks for the ideas on the opening i agree i played in an 'unenterprising' way with my stolid extension on the top, it is in fact a deliberate feature of my game right now ! but the ideas for all the other moves, especially the cap & invasion that both you and ethanb suggested, are very interesting ...

Go Software / Database for the Blackberry?
I just picked up a blackberry on the weekend, and looking around I can't see any decent go software for it. Hoping I've missed a title, posting to get some suggestions!

Re: 1k ogs game for consideration
thank you for the thoughts! move 15 is still a difficult point. the middle game here is not easy to pull apart, but i thought white was rather slack, and if i had only played P2 instead of N2, i think i might have won. but i agree that the way i started the middle game was very questionable. i'll ...

Re: 1k ogs game for consideration
interesting thoughts, but i am not convinced... i can believe that the pincer is more popular, but i intentionally chose to play in a simpler way in the fuseki. i'm aiming for a clear game based on influence here (something i have been experimenting with for the past few months). i think 10 and 11 ...

Re: Do you enjoy your job?
i'm writing scala and a little java at an interesting online advertising startup, so things are pretty good right now. the pace of the work isn't too bad, and it often can be interesting! i wouldn't mind pumping out c# or c++ at a less 'cool' company, but i particularly enjoy that i'm getting paid ...

i'd like takao to win a title again, but yuta seems to have a better start in this game. 3 sizable corners and no shortage of central power

Re: Sakai Hideyuki Won Gosei
this is fairly interesting news
i learned about sakai hideyuki from shuko's 'the only move' books, where he seems to be a favored student of shuko (but his games are always shown as examples of how not to play!)
