Re: LifeIn19x19.com v2.0!

Thanks a lot for bringing back the forum! I can link games from the gokgs archives, but some ways to input sgf seem to be broken. For instance in this thread https://lifein19x19.com/viewtopic.php?t=7273&sid=f651b6cce316404b68103453f8aaecdd
or that one https://lifein19x19.com/viewtopic.php?t=833 ...

Re: LifeIn19x19.com v2.0!

Diagrams should be looking a lot better now (though you may need to do a hard-refresh in your browser, since your browser likely cached the old diagrams if you loaded them from before the fix was in place).

Please continue dropping your feedback and bug reports here!

Re: LifeIn19x19.com v2.0!

The new Go diagrams are very large. I would be happy to see them reduced in size by 1/3 in each direction. Making the stones antialiased would be a big improvement (the numbers on them are, but not the stones themselves). I personally find the little gray "highlight" on the white stones very ...

Re: LifeIn19x19.com v2.0!

(I've noticed a bug with embedded SGFs that are embedded from an attachment, like in https://lifein19x19.com/viewtopic.php?t=17217. Fixing that now.)

This should be fixed now, those types of SGF embeds like in that thread should work correctly now.

LifeIn19x19.com v2.0!

Life In 19x19 is back — and on firmer ground

Hello everyone,

I owe you all an explanation, an apology, and some good news.

What happened

In June 2025, L19 went offline after a hacking incident. The attacker exploited vulnerabilities in our ancient, unpatched phpBB 3.0.8 installation ...

Re: Kamakura by John Fairbairn

It looks like John Fairbairn's long-awaited reprint of Kamakura has finally gone to print (on demand): https://www.amazon.ca/Kamakura-ten-game-between-Seigen-Kitani/dp/B09SDCQ98N.

There apparently have been some slight modifications/updates, I'm not sure if anything of substance was lost, but I've ...

Re: Hikaru no Go 20th Anniversary

The translation of one of the sections of that site says:

In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of this anime, we plan to develop a project that will reach not only fans from that time, but also people who can become new fans on this
occasion. Please enjoy it.

Sounds like there is something ...

Re: Apple Silicon and AI Engines

Which part are you having trouble with? Both KataGo and KaTrain have been added to Homebrew now, so if you have Homebrew working (which I recommend on any Mac, whether you're using it for computer go or not), it is just a matter of:

Code: Select all

brew install katago katrain
And you're done!

Re: GO PODCAST

Yes! I've thought about it a lot. The main difficulties are that:

1) Audio is not the ideal medium for Go discussion; it's too difficult to communicate a position
2) Go doesn't really have a weekly or biweekly news cycle the way most popular podcasts seem to feed on

All of which is to say that a ...

Re: Help wanted! Build a Go blog authoring tool

If all you need is displaying interactive diagrams based on SGFs, you already have a huge number of options for simple Javascript-based embeddable widgets like EidoGo (what this forum uses), jgoboard , or many others. They should be very easy to integrate with any blogging engine that lets you embed ...

Re: Certificate

This should be resolved now, although if you've already granted a security exception in your browser, your browser may choose not to re-check the cert right away and so it will still show up as invalid for a little while (unless you clear caches for lifein19x19.com). For anyone who hasn't granted a ...

Re: Fox section in the Go Club Forums

Great question. The simple answer is that the subforum list was established before Fox existed (or at least, before it was mainstream in the West) and hasn't been revisited since.

I think it's way past time we did some maintenance of the subforum breakdown in general and the online server section ...

Re: Weird results with firefox

I was looking at the NoScript forums. Take a look in this thread about recent problems . Page down approximately once and you can see a recommendation to try an updated release candidate, v 11.0.37rc1. This seems to have solved various peoples' problems.

Many thanks, Dave. Will do. :)
