What joseki are you playing lately?

I'm back. I want to play again.
What joseki is hot right now?
What are you enjoying?
What are the pros playing?
Where the traps at for easy corners?

Any suggestions?

Re: When to protect your corner?

The best time to protect the corner is when the move serves a dual purpose. Often you can build up thickness while preventing another group from getting a base, for example, or as a reply to a corner approach. If that doesn't happen naturally, there are two criteria I would use:

Re: Games I played and stuff

Thanks for looking at the game.

I wasn't sure what to do so I played away haha. I guess D12 is good since I've decided to attack with O16.

I was having trouble with C17. W C17 B D16 ? but after playing with variations G15 peep looks like it helps.
And if W C17 B B17 I think hane at B18 works ...

Re: Games I played and stuff

Alphago sure is cool.

Learning when to peep.
1. To cover a weakness before jumping out.
2. Right before pushing an opponent in a direction.

Also couldn't see it in game but after playing around after the game I see the aji at C15 and maybe I could find a way to hane at D11 insetad of E11 but it's ...

I'm not sure if this is what you're asking for.

Daniel Gourdeau? Daniel Negreanu?

Close enough. I'll root for him.

My thoughts.

m
It keeps adding deleted comments when I try to link it as sgf.

makes sense
Idk if I agree.
Might be some shape issues. The bamboo joint threatens to surround the corner or take the base of the two white stones.
Agree this looks great for black.

Re: What's the plan?

I don't spend a lot of time on joseki. So I feel like I'm always going to give my opponent too much.
They're going to play on both sides and I'm going to be stuck with a weak group.
Or I'm going to die at the start of the game and have to resign.
It was a bigger fear when I was a ddk. But I still ...

Re: What's the plan?

White: I don't know any joseki
Black: I hate when they invade my 3-3

White: I don't like these joseki that take up half the board
Black: I'm tired of this 4-4, slide into corner, block corner joseki

White: Oh God I hope black doesn't pincer me
Black: I can't wait to try out this new trick play ...

Re: perception of areas

I'm the opposite. I always feel like I'm far behind so I take risks I don't have to, end up dying, and then in review realized I could have just strengthened my areas and been just fine.

Re: Influence appears @w94. How to attack? [2kyu KGS]

Thank you for your thoughts. You helped me see a lot of things I didn't think about.
A lot of the ideas lead to needing a big score in the center. I think if I could have ever got a move in the lower left corner in sente the game would have been a lot easier.
I think it also would have helped if I ...

Re: Blocking moves in the Opening

I mean a move like var :b5:. It looks like a play just to block whites enclosure and then abandon the stone.

Idk what it's called so i just called it a blocking move.

Game :b9: would be another example in the variation but not in the actual game.

Blocking moves in the Opening

I was looking through some old posts and thought this was a cool opening concept.
And how lucky that an example appears twice in the same game.

By blocking move I mean a move like var: . Or Game: following the variation with intent to tenuki.

A few comments.
