Re: Review of "Just Enough Japanese" 1 and 2 (Richard Hunter

https://gobooks.com/books-by-author.html#richard-hunter

Just Enough Japanese 1 is like a casual stroll through kanji that could otherwise be learned on https://senseis.xmp.net/?JapaneseGoTerms. But JEJ1 is much more friendly, it shows you a large picture of the kanji, it introduces the terms in ...

Re: New book: The Road to Understanding Japanese Volume 1

By the way, I had a fairly difficult time obtaining the Amazon Japan book previews.

Interesting. I knew there were differences in buying books between UK and USA. I have a amazon UK account that I use a lot and I did set one up on Amazon.co.jp but have not used it to buy any books yet. It looks ...

Re: New book: The Road to Understanding Japanese Volume 1

Those are good questions, which is why I addressed them in the free sample. Perhaps you have not seen that yet or my answers were unclear or didn't answer your questions. Let me know. I quote some relevant extracts below and expand here a bit first.

Yes. Definitely read RUJ1 before RUJ2.

Re: New series of books: The Road to Understanding Japanese

No, I am not fluent. To date I have limited my books on Japanese to the reading of Japanese go books. The goal is not to speak or compose Japanese or to read newspapers or pass exams. Like many other players, I first bought Japanese go books when I knew no Japanese at all and I just looked at the ...

Re: Just Enough Japanese Volume Three

dfan,
Thank you for the kind words. I am encouraged to hear that my efforts are appreciated.

Typing in vocabulary can be useful training. I know, having done a lot of it. But you can save time by copying and pasting or by downloading vocabulary lists. In case you, or others, are unaware of that ...

Re: Just Enough Japanese Volume Three

I was chuffed to receive congratulations from Satori Reader ( https://twitter.com/SatoriReader/status/1136332556905766912 ).
I continue to use Satori Reader daily. I find the content entertaining in itself, as well as being a memorable way to study and learn vocabulary and grammar. It works ...

Re: How to approach a tesuji problem book?

For life and death problems, the pro advice is very clear: one should work on the problem in their head until 100% confident they solved it.
Tesuji problems may be harder to approach the same way, because the goal can be less well defined. But you get the idea.

I totally disagree.

Many Japanese ...

Re: EasyGo on iOS - review

You will find in iOS10 that it is gone. Not just deletable, but gone. Apple scrapped it. Hurray! I hated it too.

I do have Game Center notifications turned off ...
