Re: GoGameGuru experience, mixed up order twice, advice need

I may be misunderstanding the situation, but it sounds like you purchased a pair of bowls and they have now sent you two sets of bowls that are a different color. This difference in color has caused you a lot of stress, sadness, and anger because they cost many precious dollars.

But maybe it's time ...

Re: Ron Polak aka Tictactoe

I just have to say that for someone (such as myself) who is not familiar with the persons involved in this thread, the dialogue here is quite strange indeed.

I lost but was very happy with my game

A couple days ago I posted a game, and it was commented that my play was quite submissive. I had that feedback on my mind when I played this next game, and while I lost by a considerable margin I feel as though my play was superior to that of my opponent for much of the game (though I could be ...

Thank you to both of you. Those comments were well laid out and will definitely give me some things to focus on in my coming games.

I won but felt like my opponent outplayed me.

I won by a few points because I managed to cut off some of his stones and kill them, but I felt through the whole game like I was being outplayed. I lack a solid understanding of the fundamentals, and as such, am hoping for some concrete examples from my game that show the flaws in my thinking ...

I've tried to register there but it says registration has been disabled. Have they said anything about it on the forum?

That is a beautiful setup. Sadly, since I share an apartment with three cats such things are not possible for me haha.

Re: Shell Go Stone Etiquette?

This may be slightly unrelated, but since the topic of translations came up I thought I'd mention that the public radio show Radiolab recently did a show on translations -- http://www.radiolab.org/story/translation/ -- that was quite fascinating. As someone who reads a lot of foreign ...

I noticed that Breakfast is still very active on KGS (username is breakfast). If there is still interest in an interview it may be worth sending him a quick message on there.

Re: Cat pics

It's nice to finally be able to leave stones on the board to appreciate after finishing a game or study session.

Does sunlight damage shell and slate stones?

I recently purchased a nice set of shell and slate stones and quickly after (due to cats) purchased a clear acrylic cover for my table goban. After finishing a game I like to leave it displayed under the cover to admire for a few hours or a couple days before playing more.

As I thought more about ...

Can this 3-3 invasion be killed?

This invasion was the difference between me beating and losing to a 1d in an even game on Tygem.

I have always thought that the marked black stones secured the corner, and when you add in the extra supporting stones it seems like this should (in theory) be an easy kill for black.

Now that I'm back to 7k I could use some help.

I was talking with a friend of mine the other day about how I was going backwards kyu-wise (used to feel like a confident 7kyu but dropped back to a strong 9/weak 8) but felt like my understanding of go was increasing by quite a bit. With this most recent win I got back up to 7kyu, but I'm hoping to ...
