Re: Any L19ers in York, England?
Hi, I live in York! Lovely place but I haven't met up with any Go players here yet. The Leeds scene is a bit better I heard, but again I haven't gotten around to going (I work in Leeds).
Cool! So I'll be there one of the first two weeks in January, and I'll try and get to the go club. It'd be ...

Re: Any L19ers in York, England?
Well, to be honest I haven't played much in a long time, around 2 years, but having a face-to-face club would be nice. I also thought that it would be a way of meeting some locals, and if anyone I know from L19 was there, that would be interesting.

Any L19ers in York, England?
I'm thinking of moving to York (long story), and I see there's a go club there. I'm going to be in the city in early January, and was wondering if anyone I know from here lives in the area.

Re: Robert Terry on "Why Go has Failed to Prosper in the US"
Also interesting is his look at how the US Chess scene grew and how it might be a model for the go community to examine.

Re: Recognition vs understanding
Interesting post, and good to see you back John.
I haven't been playing much go lately, but picked up a pretty good backgammon app for my iPad, and bought a book about backgammon to try and learn more about the game. One thing that stood out in the book - written several decades ago, but ...

Re: Bookoholism
I'm a bookaholic too. However, having more or less stopped playing go, and realizing that these books weren't helping me get better, I decided to sell off most of my collection. (You can see what's left in a thread in the Trading Post forum.) I did keep a core set of books, though, if I decide to ...

Re: My latest list of go books for sale
I would say the Graded Go Problems for Dan Players, definitely, and, perhaps, the Dictionary of Modern Fuseki, The Korean Style, the Dictionary of Basic Fuseki, and the 21st Century New Openings, Volume 1 & 2 (if you're interested in fuseki studies).
