Any L19ers in York, England?

I'm thinking of moving to York (long story), and I see there's a go club there. I'm going to be in the city in early January, and was wondering if anyone I know from here lives in the area.

I'm afraid not, no

I'm afraid I don't really know anyone who plays there. The registered contact isn't on the BGA rating list, and there are only two registered to York on there (both around 10k) - I fear the club may not be particularly active, but I hope that's not the case if you're moving there to live.

Well, to be honest I haven't played much in a long time, around 2 years, but having a face-to-face club would be nice. I also thought that it would be a way of meeting some locals, and if anyone I know from L19 was there, that would be interesting.

Hi, I live in York! Lovely place but I haven't met up with any Go players here yet. The Leeds scene is a bit better I heard, but again I haven't gotten around to going (I work in Leeds).

Oh and Tealeaf used to live here and mentioned in a PM that he knew a few players.

Cool! So I'll be there one of the first two weeks in January, and I'll try and get to the go club. It'd be cool to meet some others from here.

That would be nice. I guess you've seen the Leeds webpage, http://www.seehuhn.de/golist/. It would be a good reason for me to go too, so if you arrange anything let me know and I'll be there.

I used to live in York, but I left around 4 years ago. There was a club when I lived there, and judging from the BGA website it's still going at the same place as when I left. It was a very friendly club.
