I played as black and made some silly moves. Please help me make less silly moves.

My own remarks:

:b20: Mistake. Better extend G7 because else white g7. I didn't realize this was such an important move.
:b30: Mistake. This doesn't do anything. Still G7. Defending/strengthening top group.
:w33: Argh.
:b36: L5 better, cut K5 doesn't work.
:b38: Either H7 or N3/O3. L5 doesn't threaten connection of whites stones (as I was thinking)
:b46: Mistake. This doesn't expand or reduce anything.
:b50: Missed cut at N5 to threaten M5 group or N8 group. Or to defend K8 and cut later.
:b56: Not needed?
:b58: J10.
:b60: O/N13.
:w67: ?.
:b86: No need to defend? Cut at O14 doesn't work?

:black:114 Silly move.
:black:116 D9 or C19.
:black:122 Misclick-suji. End result favours white slightly.
:black:180 Here, have some stones...
:black:204 Handling this invasion didn't go as planned. First thought was that those cut points needed fixing.
:black:208 P18! And there goes the game.

Lessons for this game:
1) Cuts are dangerous!
2) Dead groups should be killed!

:b26: is a dangerous move, requiring quite a bit of reading, since it leaves a serious cut. If you can kill W, it is a winning move, but if W can cut and capture something, your position will collapse. The same goes for :b30:

The game sequence through :w45: is great, provided you have really killed the W group below. But just counting liberties, your two stones have 4 liberties, while the W group has 5 liberties. What happens if W plays N2 or N3? Can you really kill W first? A safety move around O2 would make the kill certain and declare victory.

:w49: is a dangerous cut, which you handled reasonably. But to make this cut, W had to reduce his own liberties. Did you look at cutting at N5 yourself? It does not look like W can save everything.

:w89: is a bad move, but it does threaten a serious cut. Your response prevented the cut, but with bad aji. :w93: set a trap which you fell into. Simply defending at K8 would protect all the cuts and avoid problems.

:b114: is a territorial move, but not a vital life-or-death move. Killing the W group at F8 beyond any hope of resurrection would certainly win the game. Invest a move at E9.

Here's a few more things to think about, in the form of simple puzzles to give you some practice. :study: These are NOT necessarily the best or most urgent moves to play on those given moves, but they are tactics worth seeing. In each case, a hint is provided with the first move - try it first without the hint, look at the hint once you have an idea or can't figure it out, but in either case don't stop there - actually try to prove to yourself that it works.

Move 78: Through a series of forcing moves, black can get at least a ko to break in to white's lower-right territory. How?
First move: Q6. Can you see both the variation where white concedes a ko and the one where white collapses entirely if he resists more stubbornly?

Move 162: Rather than connecting, black has a way to eat some white stones or break into white's territory. How?
First move: R11. Can you see what comes next?

Move 218 (a bit harder): Black can still kill the white group - before playing L19 black has a way to sacrifice a stone to make sure the rest of white's area only results in one eye. How?
First move: O18. Now, for *every* one of white's responses, can you see how black kills it? The most interesting responses are white O19 and Q19, but you should also make sure you know how to handle the others.

Even harder : at move 217 White actually had a better move that allowed her to live. A nice life & death situation.

Black's 214 allows White to live. If Black simply descends at 1 below, White is dead. Basically 4 and 5 below are miai. White needs both to live. If White tries 4 without 2, Black plays 5. If White plays 5 instead of 2, Black plays 4.

Back at 212, Black need not block in the corner. White can not find two eyes there. Black can play 1 below.
