What neck of the woods are you from?
I'm kind of curious where everyone is from. Where do you currently live?
I currently live in (semi) northern California, USA. In the past, I've lived in Michigan, USA, and also in Sendai, Japan for a year. I've spent a few months here and there in Korea, but not enough to constitute "living" there.
I wonder if there's anybody nearby. Maybe we can play go sometime at a nearby go club.

Re: What neck of the woods are you from?
I was born in Vantaa (north of Helsinki), and I have lived in Vantaa, Espoo (west of Helsinki), Helsinki, Nurmijärvi (further north of Helsinki) and now in Vihti (50 km west/northwest of Helsinki). I have always gone to school or worked in greater Helsinki area (=Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen).
And for those of you who speak Swedish, Helsinki = Helsingfors, Vantaa = Vanda, Espoo = Esbo, Kauniainen = Grankulla and Vihti = Vichtis. Nurmijärvi is the same in both languages.

Re: What neck of the woods are you from?
A village in the southern French Alps (though I'm a native New Yorker). Oddly enough, I found a guy who lives about 1/4 mile from me who was interested in learning go, a few months ago. He found a post I had made on the French Go Federation's web site looking for people in the area.
We've only met up once, so far; he's just a beginner, but we do spot each other on KGS from time to time.
(If anyone follows cycling, I'm on the road that leads to the col d'Izoard. The Tour de France comes in front of my house every couple of years.)

A New England transplant from the Midwest.
By the way, Kirk. I really envy your situation. Living in a village in the French Alps, making a living writing about stuff you enjoy, and the snow! Those pictures you posted on GD were like heaven to me. And I'm a huge cycling fan - go Lance.

Yes, it's quite a nice area.
My son got Lance's autograph a few years ago when the Dauphiné Libéré race was in the area. And the stage where Lance went through that field? They came in front of my house earlier in that stage.

I grew up outside Philly, went to college in Pittsburgh, spent five years in Southern California, five years in Seattle, and now the last four months in Northern California. I'm now trying to figure out where I'm going next.

Dallas, Texas. Prior to that, Los Angeles, in the Valley. Working night shift in such a dense part of L.A. is... a character-building experience.
Someday I want to be strong enough to earn KGS[-].
Re: What neck of the woods are you from?
I come from France, in a nice village near Bordeaux, in the wineyards !
I'm going to move to Paris next year to finish my studies.

In the order of Chronology:
Vietnam 3 years ---> Moscow 3 years ---> Vietnam 12 years ---> Sydney 3 years ---> Vietnam ( at the moment) =]
I hope I could manage to take a trip to Japan next year T.T

Working backwards from the present:
SW Virginia, Minnesota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Colorado, Oklahoma, Isle Wight (UK), Oklahoma, Iran (Shiraz), Birmingham (UK-university), Bradford (UK-grew up there), York (UK-born there)

Still officially AGA 5d but I play so irregularly these days that I am probably only 3d or 4d over the board (but hopefully still 5d in terms of knowledge, theory and the ability to contribute).

Hey, Joaz. I'm in San Jose, to be exact. We go to SF often, but mostly for recreation. It's fun to go to Japantown sometimes. There are also go tournaments in the bay area sometimes.

Re: What neck of the woods are you from?
Born in England, but when I was only about a year and half I moved to Delaware. Lived there for about 5 years, then moved to Massachusetts. A couple years later I moved to Maine, where all my family is from. And I have been trapped here ever since.
